Financial Times: Aquis names another non-executive director
April 15, 2013
Aquis Exchange has named Mark Spanbroek, an experienced Dutch executive, to its board as the start-up European share trading platform continues to make key appointments ahead of its launch.
Mr Spanbroek, whose appointment is effective immediately, is the secretary general and vice chairman of the European Principal Traders Association, a trade lobby group that is part of the US-based Futures Industry Association.
London-based Aquis aims to shake-up European equities trading market later this year, pending regulatory approval, with a mobile-phone style “pay for what you consume” data subscription fee for traders.
It was founded by a group of former executives that built Chi-X Europe into the region’s largest equity trading platform Last month it named Niki Beattie, a respected industry consultant, as its non-executive chair.
Mr Spanbroek has also worked at Getco, the US electronic market maker, and Van der Moolen, a Dutch group. He is also independent non-executive director of CME Europe.
“His contribution will be invaluable as we gear up towards introducing subscription pricing into Europe and bringing innovative order types to the market,” said Alasdair Haynes, chief executive. (Philip Stafford, April 15)
