Banking Business Review: Aquis Exchange chooses Equinix London data center

June 6, 2013

The proposed pan European trading venue Aquis Exchange, has selected Equinix (EQIX), the interconnection and data center company, to set up its primary data center at the EQIX LD4 International Business Exchange (IBX) data center.

Aquis Exchange CEO Alasdair Haynes said “We chose Equinix because we believe LD4 is the best connected financial hub in the UK.”

The new facility located inside the Equinix London Slough campus, will enable the exchange to revolutionize the European trading scenario and increase competition by launching tiered subscription-based pricing and innovative order types.

Aquis Exchange, which is awaiting clearance from the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), selected Equinix London Slough campus due to its unparalleled access to over 30 European markets, 80 exchanges and trading platforms.

Further, it will allow the proposed exchange to access the Equinix Marketplace, which will enable its customers to identify potential customers and partners from over 4,000 ecosystem participants providing an array of services inside Equinix data centers.

Aquis Exchange’s closer presence to the trading community housed inside Equinix, will allow exchange and its members to connect directly to other market participants inside the Equinix financial ecosystem.

Formed in October 2012, Aquis Exchange is expected to operate as a pan-European equities trading exchange and develop exchange software.
